It is with great pleasure that the B&E Goulandris Foundation presents its new temporary exhibition, titled “Photis Kontoglou and his influence on the younger generation”, which opens on September 21 and will run to December 12.
The exhibition is a tribute to the 100-year anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe. The first part of the exhibition highlights the cultural and intellectual contribution of Photis Kontoglou to the arts and letters over the 20th century, while the second part stresses the influence of his work on younger artists.
Overall, 39 artists – from Kontoglou’s first students Nikos Engonopoulos and Yannis Tsarouchis to Yiannis Moralis, Diamantis Diamantopoulos, Rallis Kopsidis, Klearchos Loukopoulos, Giannis Papadellis and Giorgos Chochlidakis among others – display their works together with those of Photis Kontoglou.
Specialised guided tours will take place throughout the exhibition as well as educational programmes focusing on portraits, for children aged 8 to 12.
The exhibition is accompanied by a detailed catalogue.
Under the patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
