From 28 September 2023 to 28 January 2024, the Byzantine & Christian Museum of Athens will host the ARS THEATRALIS exhibition, dedicated to Manos Perrakis, an architect whose work includes 26 theatres and some of the most important museums in Greece.
The exhibition gives you the opportunity to study the thought and universe of Perrakis, approaching it through concepts that have recurred and evolved within his work through the years. Drawings, sketches, models, posters, personal objects and photographic material from his rich archive (now owned by the Benaki Museum) are on display.
For the first time, part of the architect's rich personal art collection and works that have accompanied his life are also on display. You are invited to move between the architect's design studio and the theatre space, giving you the opportunity to experience the creative process of the birth of a theatre scene.
The exhibition, co-organised with the Benaki Museum, has been developed as part of the Byzantine & Christian Museum's temporary exhibitions in four sections, curated and designed by the architect-museologist Erato Koutsoudakis.
