A performance which is a tribute to the memory of renowned Greek composer, Vangelis Papathanassiou.

Vangelis Papathanassiou’s final work, The Thread, will be presented on Wednesday, August 31st at the Herod Atticus Odeon, in honour of the great Greek composer. A unique opportunity for the audience of Athens to pay tribute to the great Greek composer and his final creation, The Thread.

This unique dance performance presents a discourse between the past and the present, combining traditional Greek dances with contemporary dance.

The exceptionally original music by Vangelis Papathanassiou written for The Thread bears a clear imprint of his compositional style, accompanied by distinguished soloists in traditional musical instruments (bagpipes, Cretan lyres, daouli double sided drums and others).

Renowned choreographer Russell Maliphant daringly deconstructs and recomposes the kinesiology of the past into his own language of movement - a turning point in his creative path.
