Cinderella by the Classical Ballet of Eastern Europe

Sergei Prokofiev's masterful music and the unparalleled art of classical dance take us into the dream world of Cinderella, the beloved fairy tale of our childhood, on the stage of the Christmas Theater.

The rich sets, evocative lighting, glittering costumes, outstanding soloists and the corps de ballet of the Classical Ballet of Eastern Europe make up an impressive production, a true fairytale spectacle that will enchant young and old alike.

Charles Perrault's endearing fairy tale has touched audiences around the world for almost two centuries and enchanted great composers from various countries. One of them was Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953), the great Russian composer who created wonderful melodies for the dance version of Cinderella. It took him four years to write the music (1940-1944). His work was first performed by the Bolshoi Ballet to great acclaim in 1945, choreographed by Rostislav Zakharov with the legendary ballerina Galina Ulanova in the leading role.  

CLASSICAL BALLET OF EASTERN EUROPE

The Classical Ballet of Eastern Europe was created in 1945 in Varna, Bulgaria and, each summer, the city's Opera House and the National Ballet Academy host the prestigious International Festival of Classical Ballet of Eastern Europe, which has featured and awarded great soloists and dancers from the most renowned ballets of Eastern Europe. The ballet invites soloists and dancers who were awarded in previous years to participate in a tour of ballet performances around the world.
