The National Theatre presents the performance "A Bright Room Called Day" by Tony Kushner.

Tony Kushner (b. 1956) is one of the most radical voices in contemporary American drama. His international acclaim came with his play Angels in America (1992). His work “A Bright Room Called Day” is a gem of the great playwright's dramatic work, unknown in Greece. His first writing dates back to 1985, followed by three more versions in 1987, 1991 and 2018.

The play, through 25 scenes, follows the rise and establishment of Nazism from New Year's Day 1932 to July 1933. In Berlin, a group of left-wing artists meet at the home of the actress Agnes and try to resist the upcoming darkness. Kushner traces how the political events of these 18 crucial months affect their lives and how each of them manages the rapid developments. As Nazism overwhelms Germany, the individuals' dilemmas grow, and they are obliged to make increasingly difficult decisions. A panorama of characters and attitudes to life in a time of fear.
