Athens Marathon: the Authentic

The Athens Marathon takes place on 12 November 2023, setting out from the village of Marathon in eastern Attica and finishing at the Panathinaiko Stadium (Kallimarmaro) in the heart of Athens.

Based on the historic route, the Authentic Athens Marathon attracts professional and amateur athletes who want to experience the original marathon. Shorter 10km and 5km races, as well as a 1.2km children's race and a night race for students, are also available.

As this year's registration has reached its maximum capacity, the only place left open is that of a spectator. You too can spread the Authentic Marathon spirit by supporting the athletes along the course. The best places to watch the runners are the Katehaki pedestrian bridge, the Athens Concert Hall, the statue of “the Runner” and of course the Kallimarmaro Stadium.

The entrance at the Panathenaic (Kallimarmaro) Stadium is free for all spectators.
