Seascape in a garden

Greek artist Katerina Karatzaferi and Egyptian composer & musician Ahmed Saleh are collaborating for the first time on the island of Delos in an audio-visual installation and performance on the island of Delos. The project is part of the Ministry of Culture’s “All of Greece, One Culture" programme, which this year is dedicated to the environment. 

Taking place at the archaeological site of Delos between 14 and 15 July 2023, the exhibition explores different cultural narratives surrounding their shared passion for the environmental protection. 

Katerina Karatzaferi has been inspired by both the Japanese Komomaki tradition and Greek textiles, while Ahmed Saleh has imagined modern ‘Alexandria’ sinking beneath rising sea levels to meet its Hellenistic ancestor, a reference to the dystopian prophecy of the sinking of modern Alexandria due to rising sea levels and climate change.

The visual and sound installation will run throughout the day. The musical performance by Ahmed Saleh starts at 18:30 and lasts 45 minutes.

Ticket Details

The event is implemented in the framework of the institution "All of Greece, One Culture 2023" by the Ministry of Culture and is offered free of charge. Only the entrance fee of the archaeological site, where applicable, is paid.
