From 7 March to 4 April 2026, Swan Lake returns to the Greek National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens.

One of the most beloved ballets of all time, Swan Lake tells the haunting story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse, and the prince who falls in love with her. Set to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score, it explores themes of love, betrayal and redemption that continue to captivate audiences more than a century after its premiere.

In this production, GNO Ballet Director Konstantinos Rigos offers a fresh perspective on the Petipa/Ivanov choreography, reimagining key scenes and questioning how the great works of classical ballet can be reinterpreted for today’s audiences.
