Carmen by the Greek National Opera

From 30 April to 4 June 2026, the Greek National Opera presents Carmen at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens.

In collaboration with the Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de Musique Romantique Française, the Rouen Opera, and the Royal Opera of Versailles, this production brings to Greece a meticulous recreation of the 1875 Paris premiere at the Opéra-Comique. The Palazzetto Bru Zane has revived the original staging with historically accurate sets and costumes based on those overseen by Georges Bizet himself.

The most celebrated opera of the French repertoire, Carmen remains a symbol of love and freedom – a timeless work that continues to captivate and challenge audiences just as it did at its first performance.
