Requiem for the End of Love

Requiem for the End of Love will be performed at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) from 24–30 January 2026, bringing back one of the most influential Greek stage works of the 1990s.

Created by Dimitris Papaioannou and Giorgos Koumendakis during the height of the AIDS crisis, the piece blends music, dance and visual performance in an exploration of love, loss and the fragility of human connection.

Three decades after its original staging by Edafos Dance Theatre, Papaioannou and Koumendakis reunite with conductor Teodor Currentzis to revisit the work’s emotional and artistic core, reimagining it for a new generation in a large-scale production featuring orchestra, chorus and soloists.
