Running Dry is a performance, choreographed by Aria Boubaki. The project is part of the Ministry of Culture’s “All of Greece, One Culture 2023" programme, which this year is dedicated to the environment.
The body is Earth. It carries rivers. Their water masses move through us, run through us and move us. Water is no other than us. It is our first relative and the first medicine to which we turn. As long as we poison and deplete our water resources, how can we cleanse our wounds?
Running Dry invites the audience into a dance performance where water returns as Erinyes, as primordial momentum. Erinyes cannot exist in the absence of the wild. This is what they call: the untamed, defending the wild landscapes of the soul. Erinyes is the water scarcity, the drought, the flood, the rising sea level, the drying river, the wrinkling skin. It is not a punishment, but becomes knowledge. The dancing bodies return to water/ their oldest wild relative and through kinetic waves, voices, confessions and gestures unfold personal water maps of bodily memories and weave a world of luminous coexistence.
