The Temple of Athena Lindia | The Propylaea | The Church of Saint John

The Temple of Athena Lindia (20 mins): The temple of Athena Lindia takes pride in being located at the highest point of the Acropolis. This impressive temple has a spectacular story to tell, having been renovated multiple times since antiquity and decorated after victorious wars. As in ancient times, when Alexander the Great would make a point of offering sacrifices to Athena Lindia, the temple is still considered the highlight of the Acropolis.

The Propylaea (10 mins): Although hardly there anymore, the ghost of the Propylaea still has stories to tell. An integral part of any sacred space in ancient Greece, used to isolate cultic activity from the secular world, the Propylaea of Lindos were the second largest structure on the Acropolis. Through its storytelling, Clio Muse will endeavor to bring them back to life for you.

The Church of Saint John (12 mins): As Christianity was established as the official religion of the late Roman Empire, the building of the Church of Saint John marks the Christianisation

of the ancient Acropolis, a common practice of religious imperialism during the Byzantine period. While the Church of Saint John is the successor of an earlier structure standing in this location, it is the oldest surviving church on the Acropolis today.
