Kapani Project 2023

The Kapani Project returns to Thessaloniki in the city’s oldest marketplace on the weekend of 30 September to October 1.

The two-day event at Kopani Market allows artists to collaborate with professionals and visitors against a background of stalls, products and people that capture the pulse of everyday life in Thessaloniki. 

Returning for a sixth time, the event highlights the new face of Kopani Market and the creative soul of Thessaloniki through DJ sets, live performances, street food and other activities focusing on entertainment through art and culture.

Maria Lappa kicks off the event with a Mask Performance Masterclass: “Re-think your food character”. Through a philosophy of zero-waste, the seminar will explore the ways and quality of human nourishment in the 21st century. Using edible materials, clay and their own bodies, guests will participate in a 4-hour performance workshop that experiment with mask-making and the emergence of "performative characters" released by the process.
