The theatrical play "Caerus" is a variation of ancient myths in order to wake everyone up to the climate crisis. The project is part of the Ministry of Culture’s “All of Greece, One Culture 2023" programme, which this year is dedicated to the environment.

Description

Persephone, goddess of the vegetative cycle, has been imprisoned in a new labyrinth by the scientist Daedalus, representative of humanity, in order to give him total control over the Earth's resources. Her second abduction not only forbids her contact with her mother Demeter, Earth personified, but also her return to her kingdom, the Underworld. Mourning her daughter's disappearance, Demeter searches for her everywhere again, and in her wake creates extreme and devastating weather events. Help will come from "Weather", a symbol of opportunity, who will reveal to her where her daughter is imprisoned. There, Demeter will try to convince Daedalus to free her, but he, blinded by arrogance, will remain unmoved. Then the two will exchange accusations in a battle of words. Will reconciliation come or will they both be driven to hubris and destruction?
