Anthropoleipos: From the Ascent upon Stone to the Opening of the Horizon

The Sacred Monastery of Arkadi hosts the original musical production Anthropoleipos: From the Ascent upon Stone to the Opening of the Horizon on 18 and 19 August 2026, as part of All of Greece, One Culture 2026. This is a two-day musical, narrative and experiential project exploring the relationship between human beings and stone, as an expression of a timeless connection between nature, creation and culture.

Drawing inspiration from the mountains, the memory of the place and revolutionary thought - as expressed through Prometheus, Sisyphus and Camus - this production, set in the iconic site of Arkadi, centres on the revolution of the spirit, consciousness and transcendence. It is dedicated to the human being who, in order to remain human, passes through the inner stages of the Quest, the Illumination and the Rupture, redefining their place in History.

The work begins with dialogue, continues as a narrative performance and culminates in a musical performance by the band led by Theodoros Kotonia, gradually guiding the human being from thought and inner reckoning towards collective experience and musical expression.

Through this journey, the connection with Arkadi is also brought to the fore. Arkadi remains in the collective consciousness a place of sanctity, self-sacrifice and revolution, bringing back to the fore a timeless question that runs through human history: Civilization or Barbarism?
