"All of Greece, One Culture" – the landmark initiative of Greece’s Ministry of Culture – returns for a seventh consecutive year in 2026. From July 1 to August 31, the festival invites the public to discover archaeological sites, monuments and museums in every corner of the country.
This year's programme takes its cue from Menander's comedy The Grouch and its famous line: "How lovely a man is, if he is a man" ("Ὡς χαρίεν ἔστ' ἄνθρωπος, ἂν ἄνθρωπος ᾖ"). Humanity itself takes centre stage, as the festival reflects on the human condition through the performing arts. The programme also grows this year, adding 19 new venues to its network of archaeological sites, monuments and museums.
At each site, creators and artistic groups respond to the same timeless question – what does it mean to be human? – through original performances and hybrid new forms of artistic expression built around this year's theme.
From ancient theatres, fortresses and monasteries to castles, Byzantine museums, mosques, mansions, and prehistoric settlements, Greece's historic sites come alive with a rich and varied artistic programme that brings the past into conversation with contemporary art.
