Description

Your Tour of Athens: Join this unique, worry free and all-inclusive tour, to combine an extended guided visit to the most important landmark of Athens, the Acropolis, with a guided visit to Plaka, Athens picturesque old town, and its most beautiful and unknown to many Athens visitors, part of Athens, the Anafiotika area. A food tasting during the tour of some typical Greek foods at the lively area around Monastiraki square will round-up the experience.

Acropolis:Your tour will start with a thorough visit to the most renowned archaeological site of the city, the Acropolis. We will enter the Acropolis from the south slope, in order to visit  the Dionysus Sanctuary, the Asklepieion and Dionysus Theater,  all located at the foot of the majestic rock.

While ascending the sacred hill of the ancient Athenians, your experienced guide, will provide you with ample information on all the significant monuments surrounding the Acropolis and you will have the opportunity to take perfect panoramic photos of the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the National Observatory of Athens and the city’s scenic hills: Filoppapos, Mars and Pnyx.

You will then visit one by one all the admirable, eternal buildings of the Acropolis, among which, stand out the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaea and the Nike Temple. Your guide will unravel the skein of time, offering you a journey in the mythology, the history and the architecture which resulted in the wondrous creations you see in front of you.

Upon conclusion of the visit, seize the opportunity to enjoy a birds-eye view of the entire city and take the perfect photos.

Plaka & Anafiotika - The Neighborhood of the Gods: Continue to Mars Hill or “Areopagus” as it is called in Greek; where your guide will offer you an explanation about the historical, mythological and religious importance of the location.

Right after, you will enter the most unique part of the city, the Anafiotika and Plaka areas, and will discover with your knowledgeable local guide, its tranquil, picturesque and mystic hidden corners. Stroll around the little alleys and admire the authentic cubic houses with bright painted shutters and beautifully carved wooden doors, a typical Cycladic architecture! Also, see and take beautiful pictures of tiny little chapels.

Connect the dots between “yesterday” and “today” by letting your guide unveil unknown parts of history and significant details on historical buildings, beautiful old chapels and numerous monuments, such as the Ancient Agora, the Roman Forum and the tower of the winds. Create memories that will stay with you forever and…always have your camera ready!

Monastiraki Surrounding Area: Next, you will come to the lively area of Monastiraki square, in the heart of Athens where you will discover iconic landmarks, such as Hadrian’s library, the Tzistarakis Mosque and the Flea Market, lots of souvenir shops, and traditional tavernas all under the majestic eye of the Acropolis.

This is where your guide will introduce you to the culinary habits of the Athenians while you will sample some of the local delicacies.

Food Tasting: You will have the opportunity to taste some of the most typical and traditional Greek foods, such as savory and sweet pies, souvlaki, Greek coffee escorted by a piece of Greek traditional dessert (either Greek ‘loukoumi’, sponge cake, spoon dessert, etc.), and Greek donuts (called “loukoumades”).
