Painting in the Ionian Islands

From 20 October 2025 to 22 March 2026, the National Gallery – Corfu Branch presents Painting in the Ionian Sea, an exhibition co-organised with the Ionian University and the National Gallery – Alexandros Soutsos Museum.

Covering the period from the late Venetian rule to the early decades after the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece, the exhibition brings together more than 70 works by 30 artists – including tempera, oil paintings, drawings and engravings – alongside manuscripts, printed publications and archival documents.

The exhibits are drawn from the collections of the National Gallery as well as museums, cultural institutions and archives.
