About the author

Dilek Koc graduated from the Department of Architecture of the Polytechnic School of Istanbul, while at the same time taking her first steps in the Music Academy of Istanbul and the Culture and Art Society of Ruhi Su, the great Turkish composer and doyen of modern Turkish folk music. Since 2000, she has been living permanently in Thessaloniki where she studied Byzantine music in the Byzantine Music Association, “Romanos Melodos”. She has been a member of the music band CAFÉ AMAN, with whom she has performed a lot of concerts in Greece and abroad.

She has collaborated with a lot of great Greek and foreign composers and singers, such as Evanthia Reboutsika, Mimis Plessas, Elli Paspala, Yota Nega and Glykeria. She continues to make appearances all over Greece presenting a repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs which thread the common musical legacy of Greece and Turkey.

In addition, she includes songs from the Balkans and Eastern Mediterranean which also reflect the culture and character of these regions.
