Highlights
- Explore the nature and wild landscape of Gramvoussa and of Rodorou penisula/.
- Crystal clear water for snorkeling and relaxing on quiet beaches.
Description
Our first stop on this excursion is the beach of Balos, a lagoon of outstanding natural beauty located at the tip of the Gramvousa peninsula, the westernmost point of Crete. The whole area has been declared a protected area by the Natura 2000 program and the preservation of the area is our first priority. Leaving only our footprints on the pink-white sand, we take a dip in the turquoise waters of Balos and Gramvousa before heading to our next stop, Menies.
This hidden cove is located on the northeastern coast of the Rhodopes peninsula, parallel to Gramvousa. Menies are located on the site of ancient Diktynna, which was the most important temple of the goddess Vritomartis, believed to be the goddess Artemis. After a refreshing swim on the pebbly beach,we make another stop at Choironissia, before we return to Kolymbari.
