Lee Minaidis

About the author

Lee Minaidis is a native of Charleston, West Virginia, USA. She holds a BA degree in International Relations from Sweet Briar College, Virginia, USA. Since 1972 she has been a resident of Rhodes, Greece and is married to the hotelier, Vasily Minaidis.

In 1999 she was elected City Councilor of Rhodes and was then appointed Deputy Mayor responsible for International and Public Relations. From 2003 until 2014 she served as Adviser to the Mayor of Rhodes on International and Public Relations and Protocol.

Mrs Minaidis was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 7th World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), which took place in Rhodes in September 2003.

In 2004 Mrs Minaidis was appointed Coordinator for Development and European Projects of the OWHC and from March 2007 until April 2009 she was chosen to serve as Interim Secretary General.

She was subsequently appointed on a permanent basis as Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), a position in which she still has the honour to serve.
