Athens Street Art Tour & Street Food: A Dive into Modern Culture

Athens has recently been characterized as the new Mecca of Street Art. And rightly so! The recent economic recession that hit the country hard, the immigration waves that the country received and the rise of far-right politicians are a few of many factors that have transformed the city. This led to a burst of artistic expression at the place to which everyone has access: the streets of the city. World-famous graffiti and street artists were attracted by the modern fights the people of Athens were giving and decided to make Athens their new home. Together with talented local artists, they have given their own fights, by creating striking pieces of art in many neighborhoods of the city.

Today, there are hundreds if not thousands of graffiti in Athens’ city center alone. For this street art tour, we decided to focus on the works that can be found in and around the historic neighborhood of Psyri, the district of villains and heroes.
