Descripción

Welcome to Poseidonion Grand Hotel in Spetses Island.

"“Poseidonion Grand Hotel” was first built in 1914 by Panagiotis Zissilas.
Situated in Spetses, a picturesque island near Athens with rich naval history and lovely beaches, and what is more a destination for jet-setters all year long, Poseidonion Grand Hotel has been the landmark of the island for nearly a century with its exceptional architecture echoing hotels of Cote d’Azur style.
In 2009, after a painstaking five-year restoration programme, it recaptured its paste splendor, transforming into one of Mediterranean’s most elegant and contemporary hotels.
The hotel comprises of two buildings with superior and deluxe rooms and suites, several with private gardens or balconies. The hotel offers spectacular views of the Dapia Port area and the sparkling blue-turquoise Sea.
The premier accommodation in the hotel is the spectacular Royal Suite featuring three double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and its own 85 square meter terrace with breathtaking views of the sea. Another unique suite is the split-level “La Cupola” that occupies the hotel’s central roof dome.
Despite its famously grand architecture, Spetses has managed to retain a serene island atmosphere. The horse and carriage remains the most popular form of transport for both islanders and visitors."

Unfortunately this hotel is very much not a 5 star experience. It is beautiful and well-located but the service is deeply lacking and the noise unbearable in the partial sea view rooms. Loud music every night until 1am and on our final night there was an unbelievably loud event happening right under our window which the hotel did not advise us of when booking. We were offered an alternative room (also very loud) or a free drink / room service, neither were acceptable. If you want to stay at this hotel I would recommend the garden view rooms but it would be better to stay elsewhere and save your money.

A remarkable hotel in an incredible location. The restoration, design and decor are stunning, one of the best I have seen. The suites are very large and beautifully appointed. The food is fantastic. The General Manager and his team are wonderful - warm, thoughtful and welcoming. We can't wait to return!

Update 2025. Unfortunately they couldn’t keep the high standards of the last year. The food and service at the main restaurant are mediocre at best. In their restaurant at the Paradise beach even worse. Some dishes are just ok, some- inedible. What a shame. Worth every penny. Traveling extensively around Greece and staying predominantly in 5 stars hotels, a disappointment is the usual feeling we have. Poseidonio is the exception. Starting from communication with Serena, she is brilliant !!! Our stay, dining experience and the Paradise beach, which belongs to the hotel as well, were marvelous. There were minor flaws, but overall experience is OUTSTANDING. We stayed in Royal suite and first time in Greece I didn’t have a feeling of overpaying. Absolutely worth it. Gorgeous 3 bedroom suite on the top floor, stylish decor, large terrace and magnificent views from every window. The interior of the hotel is understated luxury with modern art on all walls. Fantastic combo. Could live there! Special thanks to Ilyas(Ilias ?) F&B manager. True professional! Excellent understanding of customer needs, and most importantly, great food. We ate in the restaurant few years ago and never intended to go back. It completely changed under Ilyas management. Can’t recommend it enough. It’s Greek inspired cuisine with use of mostly local ingredients elevated to the level of great European restaurant. Combination of tastes, flavors and textures is creative but not crazy, delicious and beautifully presented. Portions are not big which gives you an opportunity to try many without being staffed. Huge thanks to the team and we will definitely see you again.
