Mediterranee Hotel Kefalonia

Very nice location, right by a very nice beach. Good selection of food. Rooms are very clean with good amenities. The beach could do with several more sunbeds as by mid morning, they’re almost all taken. The air con in the room takes a long time to cool the room.

This is a difficult one. I’ve given 5 stars before, but this is better. So really this should be six stars. The rooms are reportedly dated. That may be so, but the fittings are very high quality and a scrupulously maintained. Room cleaning is astonishingly good and timely. The staff are among the best I have encountered and plainly all of them are long term employees. There is an issue with the number of beds, which has partially been fixed by the addition of beds in the garden. I never failed to get a bed, but sometimes it was a bit out of the way. The pool is among the best I have ever used. A big plus is the pool side bars and the main bar. Drinks are no more expensive than the surrounding places, snacks are really good value.

Because of some of the reviews I’ve read before I really expected it to be not a great experience but the hotel was perfectly fine even without a see view room. You really need earplugs though to have a good night sleep because of the doors. The rooms had wooden doors so you can hear everything what’s going on in the corridor. It’s not negative cause we were out of the hotel during the day but the cleaning stuff was loud sometimes so again because of the wooden doors you won’t find your inner peace then. The restaurant was really nice, modern with great food I just wish some of the staff were nicer..maybe a smile..I get it’s not the best job but still. Rather than these it was great.

Our room was spacious with a beautiful sea view, and the pool area was absolutely stunning. The location was perfect — close to everything yet peaceful. Breakfast had a great selection every morning. Would definitely return without hesitation!

SUN BED WARS AT DAWN!!! Be later than 7.30 for a sun bed at your own peril. The rule is one person has to stay with the sunbeds even beds or towels are removed. We was a group of 6 friends who never had breakfast together once during our stay for this reason. Towels are removed if you leave them unattended to get breakfast. If towels are removed they get put on the table between the sun beds. This in theory means the sun bed is vacant! I put our towels on sun beds, two of these had towels on the table. The people whose towels were on the table came back and started giving me abuse and then went on to remove towels and throw them at me! This rule causes unnecessary friction between guest s and the towels should be removed completely from the area. I told the pool guy who went and told them they can’t do that but as they argued with him, he came back to me and said they won’t listen and left them with the beds and shrugged his shoulders at me. I also reported to reception who also did nothing. There is lots more space for additional sun beds around the pool area which would alleviate this issue. Having said that the hotel was lovely in all other aspects, friendly staff, clean rooms and breakfast had a wide varied Choice. The hotel is in a good location and a slope down onto the beach. Sun beds on the beach are 15€. Short walk up the hill to all the bars and restaurants.
