Zagori - Ano Pedina

Descripción

Our guest house is a stone-built mansion of the 19th century located at the village of Ano Pedina, in Zagorohoria, which underwent a refined renovation in 2009. By pairing the aesthetics of the French countryside with the traditional local architecture, we have created 3 stone buildings that contain 8 romantic rooms filled with the stuff dreams are made of.

The Amaryllis Guest House comprises a main building and two separate ones built around a spacious central yard that gives the impression of a small village. The surrounding area is simply stunning; just behind the guest house stands a mountain full of beautiful vegetation while in front of it an ocean of mountaintops is revealed creating an atmosphere of absolute tranquillity.

This large outdoor area extends to several different levels with verandas, stairs and quiet private yards, where our guests can enjoy the peaceful views of the mountains, the sky and the sounds of nature. There are many comfortable, handmade armchairs and wrought iron tables arranged all over this area, so all you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy your stay.

Our stay at this property was underwhelming. It felt like they just locked the doors of an old hotel, and decided to rent it as an "8-bedroom house”, but with hotel-level pricing and no services. The instructions given before check in were very strict so we had the feeling that we were going somewhere very special..just to find out that the photos were misleading— super old furniture, no dining table for more than 2-3 people, and a semi professional kitchen you don’t even want to use. Cleanliness was mediocre at best. Value for money 1 star. The welcome person though super kind.

*Terrible hospitality! Do not go to this hotel! * Stay away * I do not like to write something bad about a place I was hosted but this time it is inevitable. We experienced in this hotel the most horrible and terrible hospitality we have experienced in all of Greece. The hotel is located in the village of Ano Padina, the rooms are terribly small and not suitable for three people. At the end of the day when we returned to the hotel we were surprised to find that the hotel owner forgot to turn on our boiler and we had to shower in cold water! And the highlight of the scum was breakfast at 10 euros per person! (30 euros for three people) which is a completely exorbitant price for breakfast (you know how much you can eat for 30 euros in a restaurant lunch/dinner in Greece ??) But the owner of the hotel (who thinks he is also a chef) promised a special and unusual breakfast... he served us turbid soup (in the morning!), Salad, some cheese and sausage and that's it. No eggs, no pie, no yogurt, nothing. It was a theft in broad daylight and we went out hungry and angry. The whole attitude was shameful and disappointing. We will never go again!!!

Stayed 3 nights at this great guesthouse. The main house and the rooms are decorated in a way that look perfect for an English afternoon tea. Ask the owner, Nikos, to show you his very interesting collection of tea-sets and other antiques. But the best part has to be the food. Breakfasts are a party. Different every morning and more than you can handle so no need for lunch later. Freshly squeezed orange juice that you can smell as it is brought to you. Best to know, though, that Nikos is an excellent cook, and he will prepare dinners on request as long as you give him a day’s notice. There is no menu so he will ask you for your preferences and will prepare a dinner based on Greek cuisine and very local ingredients but with a twist (French influence).

Ano Pedina is a super cute place. Yiannis and Stavroula gave us a warm welcome and served a super yummy breakfast. If you want a super large room then this might not be your place. Service is excellent, breakfast very tasty and fresh and you feel that time has stopped when you are in the property.

We had a great time. The location is great and the place is very quiet. The couple who run the place are very nice and welcoming. They also gave us some very good sightseeing and hiking tips. The rooms are clean, cozy and the heating works well, which is very important in this area and time of year. The breakfast is freshly made and you can ask for changes. Two slight drawbacks: The bathroom needs some upgrade and the WiFi is poor at times.
