Poetry in Music – Hidden Poetry | Secret Concert

As part of All of Greece One Culture 2025, the Fortezza of Rethymno in Crete will host the concert Poetry in Music on August 25 and 26.

The legendary Greek band Ypogeia Revmata (Underground Currents) presents a special concert inspired by landmark poems from great Greek writers that have been set to music. The band will perform both well-known and newly arranged compositions, adapted especially for this intimate and evocative setting.

Poetry in Music seeks to highlight the deep connection between Greece’s literary heritage and contemporary musical expression. Alongside the concert, visual artist Rena Papageorgiou will exhibit a series of abstract yet reverent portraits of renowned Greek poets, offering a parallel tribute through visual art.

Together, the music, poetry and artwork transform the historic venue into a space of reflection and celebration—where the past becomes a source of creative momentum and a living dialogue between generations of Greek artistry.
