Old Castle Oia

One of the greatest moments in Oia was watching the beautiful sunset from the Old Castle. We chose a room with an infinity pool, and it was absolutely incredible. We really enjoyed having our own private pool. It was also a luxurious experience to enjoy ocean views from the sofa inside the room. We had emailed in advance about help with our luggage and transportation to the airport. They replied promptly and kindly, and everything was arranged smoothly. Thanos was very helpful and friendly — we truly appreciated his warm hospitality.

We came to Santorini for our honeymoon and our room in this hotel was so disappointing. That may be an understatement considering the price of the hotel per night we paid. Our experience has been all cons and the only pro is the view (which seems to be what the owners here are banking on). First, the room was quite messy and our bedding had very visible spots and dirty pillows. The bedding was not changed from the previous occupants. Second, the shower is sloped the opposite way of the drain and doesn’t drain and just collects in a pool on the opposite side, all your gross shower water just sits there. Which is a huge gross problem and the reception actually stated they knew about this the whole time and were absolutely fine still renting a room like that out. Third, our jacuzzi was not in a clean state and had debris and algae in it. Also the jacuzzi randomly just drained and never refilled and all night the sound of the water was running trying to fill it up. There was crumbs and dirt on the floor and just in general very dingy. We contacted the reception and because it was past 9 pm they couldn’t accommodate us until the morning. The next morning the receptions desks only solution was to wait for another room to open. As we were completely dissatisfied with the whole experience. We left the hotel the next morning and are doing what we can to get a refund which they are also refusing to give us to this point.

If you are looking for a beautiful sunset in the cliffs of Oia, this is your spot. Breakfast was brought to the room everyday. Be prepared to walk up or down hill for everything else though. There is 1 local restaurant that delivers to the room but that’s it. Highly recommend it if you are up for the trek!

First we booked the luggage service hoping to ease a bit of burden upon arrival. However, when we arrived, the staff did not even mention it, let alone assist us. Despite having a backpack the size of a large cabin bag, and it being a scorching day, we ended up carrying it ourselves. What's the point of booking the service if it's not been provided? Worse still, when the staff guided us to the hotel, he walked at a fast pace regardless the fact he was supposed to guide us and completely ignored the fact that we were struggling to keep up with a heavy luggage in heat, and there were many steep and slippery steps in front of the hotel. Second, two lights in our room were broken which was quite frustrating. They had been broken since August from what i can see on reviews. Most importantly, the customer service was hardly meet satisfactory. When we reported the above issues to the concierge, they showed less-to-zero care and indifference and was trying to run away from shouldering the responsibilities. They took no active initiative to resolve our problems. Be it, when we raised the issue that the porter did not help much to the concierge, we were told that our luggage "wasn't heavy enough" to warrant help from the porter, despite the fact that carrying it was clearly difficult for us. They also dismissed the porter's indifferent behavior, claiming it had nothing to do with them and suggested that we file a complaint with the hotel via email. No effort was made to resolve the issue on-site. We never received any form of explanation or apology from the hotel throughout our stay. The only gesture we received was two free breakfast.

Really bad experience at the hotel. Do not recommend it to anyone. Staff are not interested at all . During our stay we need to reach out to them repeatedly for our issues. Moreover we paid 4-star prices and in return service were very poor like staff are not trained well we asked them handwash and they brought shower gel. Our jacuzzi lights were not working so we called reception person and he said that their reception is closed by 9pm and they will helped us next morning. Staff mentioned that during checkin they inform guest about closing of reception by 9 pm but in reality they did not informed us. Staff were caught lying to guest. Moreover in the same category of room they have different configuration of room . The images of rooms online are misleading . We booked junior suite where online photos was showing that bed and balcony are on the same floor but in reality when we checked in the room was very compact and claustrophobic. The bed was upstairs and balcony was downstairs. I would not recommend this property to anyone. Instead you can get better properties in oia at this price.
