A great place to stay in Syros. We loved the location and the villa with its comfortable and beautiful rooms. We stayed in a spacious room, with all the amenities we wished for, very pleasant and quiet. The breakfast was superb in a charming shady and elegant yard and splendid terrace. And the service excellent and exceptionally friendly.

Imagine stepping into a neoclassical beauty with the charm of yesteryear, nestled between a picturesque church, the sea, and bustling restaurants and bars. That's Villa Selena for you! With its marble galore and antique furniture, the interior screams luxury, but let's dive into the quirks that turned our stay into a comedy of errors. First up, our grand entrance was marred by a broken chair, which was replaced—drumroll, please—with a plastic one! Nothing says elegance quite like plastic, right? The beds were passable, but the rooms were a mixed bag. Those photos on booking sites? Pure fiction. We paid extra for a room with a sea view, expecting to be mesmerized by the waves. Instead, we got Room No. 1, where the "sea view" was more like "sea glimpse if you squint and lean out the window." Plus, every time someone walked in or out of the hotel, it felt like they were joining us in our room. Not exactly the tranquility we signed up for. Our kids were in Room No. 6, aka "The Dungeon." Dark, cramped, and miles away from the airy rooms in the photos. For a week-long stay, we were hoping for better digs, but alas, no such luck. For those of us who sleep lightly, Villa Selena is a challenge. The windows? About as soundproof as tissue paper. Street noise will be your early morning alarm clock. Breakfast was decent but repetitive. And the breakfast nook? Picture a charming little courtyard that doubles as a sauna. Staff had to be reminded to turn on the fan—who knew breakfast came with a side of cardio? Speaking of staff, they were friendly enough but about as proactive as a cat on a hot day. Offering tips or help? Only if you ask. They even had the gall to offer our family of four a table meant for hobbits, still cluttered with the last guest's debris. When we inquired about pancakes, we waited and waited, only to find out they were waiting for us to give the green light. Miscommunication at its finest! As an old villa, don't expect a front desk or typical hotel amenities. The staff pop in for breakfast and cleaning, and that's about it. No handy info in the rooms either—you're on your own here. Despite the hiccups, the rooms do come with a coffee maker and a small fridge stocked with two bottles of water. There's also a stunning living room to soak in the ambiance. But beware, breakfast starts late (around 8:00 am), so if you're an early riser craving coffee, you'll need to ration those precious coffee tabs provided in the room. In summary, Villa Selena has its moments of charm in an excellent location, but the service quirks and room inconsistencies make for a comedic experience. Free parking is available 400 meters away—just a little stroll. Would we stay again? Maybe, with lower expectations and a readiness for a sequel filled with plot twists and hopefully, some improvements.

A true gem! Villa Selena is a wonderful place to stay. It’s the perfect location, just steps from the beach, shops, restaurants and a short walk to Ermoupoli. Maria and the Villa Selena team are friendly and accommodating. The building is stylish, clean and very well kept. We cannot express enough how inviting, welcoming and cozy Villa Selena is. A must stay!

Fantastic hotel. Very fun interior with terrace, living space, and breakfast area. Breakfast eas delicious. The hotel is walking distance from town, and entrance to a beautiful beach is practically on the front doorstep. Maria went above and beyond with service. Would stay again, if I am so lucky.
