ERGON HOUSE ATHENS – a new way of living

Situated at the foot of the Acropolis in the historical heart of Athens, Ergon House is a seventh heaven for food enthusiasts, complete with ‘rooms above the inn’.We’ve conceived a spectacular marketplace, a modern-day agora with a constellation of greengrocers, a butcher’s, fishmonger’s and bakery, a delicatessen and roastery, along with a bar and restaurant which celebrate the best of Greek cuisine culture. And we have expanded on the unique experience of an epicurean boutique hotel by creating cool common ground in which to cook and lounge, a gym for good conscience, as well as a roof terrace planted with olive trees that has unbeatable views of the city.

Bringing people together over simple pleasures under the Ergon name since 2011, we’ve curated a community of artisans by selecting the finest products from our native soil, supporting small producers and time-honoured traditions. We’ve designed beautiful spaces across the world in which to share our passion for Greek cuisine and inspired an international following. As true believers in the positive power of food to transform moments and moods, we’re now doing away with the boundaries between a great meal and sweet dreams. It’s a bit like a night in the museum.

ACCOMMODATION

Completing this holistic hospitality experience built on the foundations of Greek Food, Ergon House Athens offers contemporary living spaces spread over the four floors above the marketplace. All roomsinclude our signature breakfast and come in four sizes, with privileged access to communal kitchens and lounges, a gym and panoramic rooftop terrace. The spaces are a collaboration with leading local designers and artists - the tribute to Greece ever-present in natural materials, traditional craft and references to the vernacular, paired with a strong contemporary line. Large, double-glazed windows invite all the spectacle and none of the soundtrack to views of the Parthenon and city, or the buzz of the Agora. Seamless service is a given and we’ve done away with in-room dining because the whole Ergon House Athens experience places food centre stage. So, while the curated minibar delicatessen should tide you over, the Agoraawaits with some of best food in town, or fresh market ingredients with which to make your own magic in one of the dedicated kitchens.

This review is about the restaurant where we enjoyed brunch twice. I think the food tastes great, and they offer a wide selection of brunch options without it feeling overwhelming. On our first visit, I had a pancake that resembled a very dense pound cake and was far too sweet for our taste. On our second visit, we tried some delicious bread topped with eggs—two different varieties, as you can see in the photo. Wow, they were absolutely amazing! The staff seemed very busy, and it took quite some effort to get their attention, but once we did, they were friendly and welcoming.

This review is about the restaurant/cafe. Let me start by saying that last year our visit here was very good and the service was nice, food was delicious. (We had the green shakshuka, which was very tasty, but unfortunately it's not on the menu anymore) This year was very different. We sat at a table and then we waited around 10 minutes to be brought the menu and the waitress said she will bring water. Fine till now, no big problem. However, 15 minutes pass by, other tables who came after us already have water and orders taken. For us nothing, no water, no waiters, nothing. So we decided to leave. Nobody noticed by the way. The funny thing is, the place was not even full. But as we left we also saw 2-3 tables still not cleaned, after the guests had already left. I know we could have said something in the moment, but first of all it's the staff's job to look out and secondly no waiters seemed to be there. Can happen, but it shouldn't happen at such a nice place.

This review is for the restaurant only, i didn’t stay in the hotel. Food is very good, my teenage girl likes her beef cheek and the grilled octopus and squid are exceptional. the price is relatively high but worth the money. Service is very bad, none of the staff was friendly and the lady seated us was particularly rude.

This is a review of the grocery store on the street level. One of the best gourmet groceries in the center of Athens. Excellent cuts of beef, chicken, lamb. Great selection of olive oils, wines, cheeses. Not inexpensive, but reliably good quality food.

Having visited the restaurant I can comfortably say that it offers a great experience. The atmosphere and vibe of the place is extraordinary. I love that every aspect of the brand is interconnected so seamlessly with each other in the building (shop, hotel, restaurant, bar). The food is great as well. Definitely recommend.
