Please do NOT stay here. The hotel is infested with bedbugs. I only stayed for one night, discovered the bugs in the middle of the night and notified the staff immediately. They couldn’t move me to a different as they were fully booked, but were kind enough to move me to a different hotel the next morning. Yet, the infestation was so severe that I walked away from that hotel with six (!!) bugs (that I know of) in my bags, after having stayed there for around 12 hours. I had to throw away my rucksack, suitcase and my handbag when I came home, and still despite my very best pest control efforts need to now fumigate my apartment as I still managed to carry some into it with me. Most expensive holiday of my life. Besides that, the area is filthy, loud and full of dodgy characters. The staff is friendly and that’s it. The towels weren’t clean, there were flies around the breakfast buffet and the whole hotel was disgusting. DON‘T, under any circumstance, stay there - or it’ll be the most expensive holiday of your life.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A true highlight in Athens – exceptionally personal service and clean, comfortable rooms! As a frequent world traveler, I rarely feel as genuinely welcomed in a city hotel as I did at the Athenaeum Κ29 Hotel in Athens. I had two separate bookings, one before my cruise and one after. On both occasions, I was warmly received by a truly outstanding staff member: Charis. His kindness, attentiveness, and the personal way he interacted with me left a lasting impression. It wasn’t just a polite welcome, he offered me suggestions, a refreshing drink, and made me feel genuinely valued as a guest. What really surprised (and delighted) me was this: Although check-in officially starts at 3:00 PM, I was allowed to check in as early as 9:00 AM, both times. It was effortless, with a warm smile from Charis, no extra charge, no complications. I assume I was lucky and a room happened to be available, but the way it was handled was exceptional. They even offered me breakfast, which I hadn’t expected after a long journey. This kind of service is far from standard – and that’s exactly why it deserves to be highlighted. I wish more hotels (and especially staff) had this mindset: if rooms are available, why not brighten a tired traveler’s day?

Friendly staff, spacious room, for one night it was ok. It is located a bit in the outer of Athens’s centre. Minimum 10 minutes walk from the nearest attractions. The bathroom (the shower) needs a deep cleaning with bleach. Modest breakfast but with all the essentials.

Our travel agent booked this room for our party of 4. Our had an old stale smoke smell. The room 102 was right on a VERY busy street. We had to turn our exhaust fan on to drown out the noise. That particular part of town appears very shady. Our breakfast was fair.

a day stopover before heading out. bit of a walk to the tourist area but nice local bars and a truly excellent seafood restaurant minutes away and not on the tourist trail. it’s not upmarket at all but trust me when i say the food was absolutely brilliant. breakfast at hotel is very good for location as its city centre. no availability on my return so obviously good value for money.
