Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival 2024

The 26th Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival takes place from 7 to 10 March 2024 in Thessaloniki, northern Greece.

Greek documentaries play a leading role in the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival. Each year, dozens of Greek productions are screened at the event, highlighting the trends in domestic production and showcasing the work of both established and promising directors.

The Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival can even be a "ticket" to the Oscars as it is one of the festivals in the world chosen by the Academy in compiling its list of documentaries to compete for the Oscar for Best Documentary. Indeed, films that win the first prize at these festivals are automatically included in the pre-selection list from which the final five Oscar nominees for the Academy Award are selected.
