MET34 Athens

Great location, staff is very nice and accommodating. Our room was spacious, clean and everything worked. Breakfast is included but is not much compared to most equivalent hotels.

The MET 34 Hotel is in a very nice part of Athens near the Plaka area. The street is very narrow, and our driver had to let us out at the corner. We had to walk several yards down the charming street to get to the hotel entrance. The reception desk staff were all very friendly, spoke English quite well, and were exceptionally helpful with recommendations and directions. They even helped us make local phone calls to confirm information about our tours and dinner reservations. It has an elevator. The rooms are spacious, very modern, and comfortable. The rooms have a breakfast bar in the small kitchen with a stove, microwave, small refrigerator, water warming pot, toaster, utensils, plates, and cookware. The hotel is very automated – the lights, blinds, and blackout shades are controlled using confusing buttons located on various electronic control devices around the room. We prefer old-fashioned on/off switches. The hotel is surrounded by several restaurants with outdoor seating. It can sometimes be a bit noisy when you’re tired from a long day of touring or traveling. We stayed several nights and did appreciate the fact that the hotel is located within walking distance of many major attractions, great restaurants and eateries, shops, services, and markets. The breakfast which is included was adequate but mediocre. We let the front desk know at what time we wanted it to be delivered to our room. It usually arrived within a few minutes of the time we requested. It was brought to our room in a basket. It contained the same things each morning – a carafe of milk, a carafe of fresh-squeezed orange juice, cereal, a few pieces of fresh fruit (sometimes not yet ripe), a couple of croissants, a bland bolillo-type roll, a few slices of processed meat (like lunchmeat), a few of slices of cheese (like sandwich slices), a few slices of bread, packets of pad butter, and packets of jam/jelly. The hotel does not offer laundry service but there is a laundromat a few blocks away. The hop-on hop-off tour buses stop just a few blocks away and you can get to the underground metro system within walking distance.

Great location. The only negative was that the room didn't have control for the AC, in order to change the temperature a call to the front desk was required. Also the breakfast was just cereal and fruit brought to the room. The staff were very helpful.

Staff here are AMAZING!! They are so kind and helpful. The hotel cleanliness is imoeccable. The hotel location is in the middle of everything--steps away from great food, frequently toured locations, and fun events.

We booked the room at the last minute and without many expectations after our flight was canceled and we had to wait in Athens. We stayed at the hotel for two nights, a family of two parents and three teenagers. The hotel's location was excellent and close to the center. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and well-equipped to a high standard. The staff was exceptionally courteous and friendly. One might argue about the design, but it looks like someone put in an effort to provide a high-quality experience. From our perspective, we got full value for the price and even beyond that.
