Eliros Mare Chania

1 079 / 5 000 The mosquitoes are the most poetic! You can't sit still in the evenings. Mosquitoes are everywhere: in the beach bar, by the pool, by the stage, in our room. Our room also had dead mosquitoes all over the walls. The musty smell of the air conditioning and the stench of sewage pipes were a bonus(that make one star for room from me). Another poetic thing is the occupation of sun loungers by the beach and pool. It's unbelievable that such things could happen in a 5-star hotel, and there are no regulations. It's embarrassing. There's no beach service, no pool service (and the pool is very small). The pool is full of chemical additives that after two hours, a child's eyes were burning and sore.There's only one bartender at the pool bar! The sun loungers are so close together that there's no privacy. The same is true in the hotel restaurant, which is more like a school cafeteria. It's crowded and noisy. The restaurant staff is also loud. The staff tries their best, but it's clear there are far too few people. The staff doesn't always speak English. Such 5-star hotels make people think that's what 5-star hotels in Greece are like. It's unfair to other hotels that are truly 5-star. Eliros Mare Poem Hotel! Shame on you!!!

5 Stars – A Truly Wonderful Stay! We had a fantastic time at Eliros Mare Hotel and can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help. The food was absolutely amazing – fresh, varied, and delicious at every meal. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we were always impressed. We also visited the spa twice during our stay, and both times were incredible. The treatments were some of the best we’ve ever had – truly relaxing and expertly done. The bar and restaurant staff were also fantastic – attentive, professional, and always with a smile. Eliros Mare exceeded all our expectations. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already dreaming of our next visit. Highly, highly recommend!

Where to start... My husband and I visited Eliros Mare (already writing this review in the taxi to the airport, it was that good!) The staff at Eliros Mare were the nicest staff we've ever had on a holiday, super friendly, helpful, always providing a service with a smile. Special shout out to the guys down at the beach bar! As soon as they saw us coming they had our drinks ready for us. The location is beautiful, set on an 11k stretch of beach, we spent most of our time down at the beach. The food & drink at this hotel was one of the best selections and quality that we've ever had at an all inclusive hotel! Loved the overall design and layout of the hotel and rooms, fresh and clean! The pool area was lovely, on occasions people had "reserved" their beds by putting their towels down, but the staff were quick to enforce their policy and removed towels from beds that were not in use after about 2 hours. There's not many sun loungers around the pool but there's plenty of space down the beach which we preferred. We would definitely come back again! Efcharistó!

Overall this is a great hotel with exceptional service, and some shortcomings. I was contemplating a 4-star review, but it is only a 4 compared to expectations at this level. Food was amazing including breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks inbetween. Everything was included in premium all inclusive except a very few special coctails - and most of the food was just really good, and a lot of choice. Location was great, this is not a huge resort, the beach is close to the rooms, as are the restaurants and other facilities. Staff was super nice and very helpful, they really do everything so guests have a great time. They provided excellent customer service, and Katerina is a gem! The room was clean and nice, the private pool attached to our room was also clean and very comfy. Sunbeds on the beach were super cozy and comfortable, and there were more than or just enough most of the time. Property is very well maintained and just looks nice. On the negative side, there was no hot enough water in the room, like at all. If you took a shower at the right time when nobody wanted to (early afternoon), you could get warm water, but not hot. If you tried showering in the evening, it was lukewarm at best, but sometimes I was cold in the shower with the hottest setting possible. This is totally unacceptable and inexcusable at this level and price range, and maybe should limit the review at 4 stars but in the end I am choosing not to due to all the other great stuff this hotel has. Also drains in the room hat a bit of a smell, which was not a dealbreaker for us but noticable.

Where to start... Everything about the hotel from start to finish was amazing. The reception staff where very friendly and accommodating. Making you feel at home from the beginning on. The hotel itself was really nice. We had a room with a side view of the ocean, and it was beautiful! The room itself was very big and very modern. With a complementary bottle of bubbles, which was a nice touch! The walk through the hotel to the beach front was also very beautiful. The hotel is really modern, I cannot express that enough! The Sun-Loungers on the beach where also very comfortable, and there where no extra costs for taking one which was a nice touch! The hotel itself is quite secluded, but if you are looking for a hotel directly on the beach, it is perfect. There is also a small supermarket and some shops across from the hotel, which makes it practical if you need some other essentials like crisps and water lol. The restaurant was also amazing! The staff there are also unbelievably friendly and also take an interest in you personally, and always putting a smile on your face when you see each other again. We had 2 excellent servers the whole week Vaggelis and Katherina (I hope i spelt the names correctly), but they where really top class!!! The food in the restaraunt was also great! Every evening there is something for everyone. You just have to be careful of your fellow guests, some are not so sure how a queue works 🙈 There is also a small gym and spa which can be booked. Both are great for what you need! The animation team was also great! They have 3 great team members, who make daily activities with the guests throughout today, and without forcing you to join in which is always nice! All in all the hotel is definitely a must stay and when we book Crete again, I have a feeling we will be back. Thanks again Team Eliros Mare!!!
