Above Blue Suites

Location, amazing view, cleanliness, comfortable bed, staff very polite -Premises and room very poorly maintained. Normally Greek hotels in June are like new, as winter maintenance has been made ahead of the summer months. This hotel, obviously has not been maintained at all for this year’s season. - 1st day we were locked inside the room [Pearl Suite](door handle faulty). We had to call reception for someone to come and let us out. Fixed quickly. - Our shower didn’t work properly (only the overhead shower worked, not the handheld one). We were reassured that it would either be fixed or we would be given another room, none of the two happened. - Breakfast, very limited, with very small quantities of whatever you order. You order the day before and they bring it the next day. On 2 of 3 our 3 days breakfast was brought missing some things we had ordered. Overall experience certainly not worth >270€/night. Much better options nearby.

We loved Above Blue Suites! The views from our room were incredible. Breakfast was delicious, and most of all the staff was very sweet and attentive. Sophia was so welcoming and kind, it was such a pleasure to stay there. ,

Amazing hotel with best view!!! Clean rooms, convenient location and one of the highest point on Santorini from where we can see Fira and Oia. Walkable distance to Fira and 10 mins drive to Oia. Surrounded with amazing Greek restaurants. They serve breakfast to your rooms. Dimitrice was an incredible host. One with an always cheerful smile and a helpful attitude. The restaurant suggestions he gave us made our stay enjoyable and delicious. If we go to Santorini again then we definitely choose to stay at Above blue suites.

Beautiful location and property, but unfortunately we had a surprisingly poor experience here both in terms of logistics as well as overall disrespect/treatment from the manager(last-minute “cancellation/change” only discovered upon arrival to check in despite receipts/confirmations/previous communication; were redirected to a much lower value property as “equal”). I hate writing negative reviews and sincerely hope others’ experiences differ, but sharing in case helpful since I definitely would’ve loved to have known before booking. Upon arriving we were told our booking was canceled without any prior contact/notice (even though we’d messaged online successfully for weeks) due to a last minute electrical issue with our room. We were assured we’d be taken care of with equal accommodations next door (we were told this rather than offered a choice; the alternate hotel while fine was significantly less than the rate we booked — $74/night day-of rate & a different caliber of amenities). We also weren’t given any written or email confirmation describing this exchange despite me asking multiple times, and being assured by the manager he’d send it over shortly. When I pointed out the differences in property amenities and quality I was basically gaslit by the manager, with him saying it “still had a pool”, “more square footage”, when the hotel levels were obviously different. He also didn’t make any attempts to show a true ounce of understanding/empathy for the fact that our long awaited trip to Santorini was being upended by being strangely booted from a property we’d been really looking forward to with 0 advance notice or professional communication. I tried being understanding and accepting about the situation at first, and asked if we could still at least use Above Blue’s pool while staying in the new room (which was ~$200 lower in nightly rate), but was told “So sorry, only guests can use the pool, and you’re not guests”… despite everything up to our arrival that afternoon pointing to the fact that we were - our confirmation emails, payment and receipt, prior communication with Above Blue, etc. The verbal word of that same manager was the only thing that might suggest otherwise that we were not guests, despite all the online and payment confirmation (and again no written confirmation for any of this). TLDR: Unfortunately super weird and disrespectful experience with Above Blue both logistically and from a respect/hospitality standpoint. I totally understand things do happen beyond control and can come up last minute (ie an electrical issue), and would hate to think the worst of anyone; it looks to be a beautiful property that’s created great experiences for many past guests. But we were treated quite blatantly disrespectfully and poorly by the manager both in tone/approach, and of course logistically - I never did get that promised exchange confirmation email either! 🤔 I felt I had to share our experience in case the overall character/treatment of us by the property that was revealed had any danger of trickling into any future guests’ stays. I would’ve loved to have known beforehand if I were in your shoes. I really hope this isn’t the case, but I’ve also found that these incidents and treatment rarely occur in isolation, and rather are endemic and revealing of an underlying nature. We ended up reaching out to Booking.com (who we’d booked through) support, who immediately fully agreed with our take. We were told this was very different from how last minute inabilities to accommodate were normally handled, got a full refund, and were resettled at a really lovely 5-star boutique down the road. The difference in hospitality and treatment we got upon check-in (part 2) was honestly sparkling, and only further emphasized the nature of the treatment and respect we received from Above Blue. Again, I hope you’re able to have an experience 100% counter to this review :), but I did feel I had an obligation to share our experience. And, regardless of all the above — truly stunning views of the Caldera and nature here.

An Exceptional Stay at Above Blue Suites! As a professional driver in Santorini, I had the pleasure of transferring my clients to and from Above Blue Suites. Upon their departure, they shared nothing but praise for this hotel, which inspired me to write this review. My guests were thrilled with the breathtaking Caldera views, the peaceful atmosphere, and the impeccable service. They highlighted the friendly and attentive staff, the exceptional cleanliness, and the high-quality amenities. The private pools in some suites and the delicious breakfast served on their terrace made their stay even more special. When a hotel leaves such a lasting impression on my clients, I consider it my duty to share their experience.
