We’ve just returned from a 1-night stay at Athens One Smart Hotel with our 2 & 6 year old, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The location is ideal for visiting the Acropolis, and the service we received was exceptional. The team went above and beyond for us: they kindly prepared our room earlier than planned as we arrived ahead of schedule, carried our 4 large suitcases upstairs, served us a delicious evening meal, and even prepared boxed breakfasts for our 4am airport transfer so we didn’t miss out. We stayed in a family room, which was very clean, modern, spacious, and came with free Wi-Fi — everything we needed for a comfortable stay. A special mention to Alex, who truly stood out — so friendly, patient, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. I’ve noticed some reviews mentioning homelessness in the area. While it is true for Athens as a whole, this is not the hotel’s fault and it’s a shame to see them unfairly blamed. The hotel keeps its doors locked with 24-hour reception access, ensuring guests feel safe at all times. We personally felt very secure, with plenty of police presence in the area as well. For convenience, an Uber to the Acropolis is only around £5–£6, and there are always plenty available. Such a thoughtful, welcoming hotel — we would return in a heartbeat! 🌟

Stayed here for 6 nights with my partner, a good hotel if you’re looking for somewhere to sleep at night and be out all day. It was around a 20min walk into the central neighbourhood where all the good restaurants are and a 35min walk to the Acropolis however, there’s buses and the metro only a 5 min walk away. Room was clean and tidy no fault with this. The location of the hotel isn’t in the best, it’s a very rundown part of the city with many homeless and people on drugs. Wasn’t surprised by this as have read other reviews but it is very bad. Also if your looking to have a lay in and your a light sleeper, like me, theirs is lots of noise from people and cars early in the morning. Breakfast is good but very basic, limited options. And although the hotel says it has a gym it’s not good. The cable machine is broken and there’s no dumbbells which I feel is a basic need in a gym. Was not able to get in a workout as someone who goes to the gym to focus on strength. Overall, service is good and staff is lovely however just sad that it’s in such a rough area.

Disappointing Stay – Definitely Not a 4-Star Hotel I stayed at this hotel for four days during Easter and was very disappointed. Although advertised as a 4-star hotel, it hardly deserves 2 stars in my opinion. The location is one of the worst in Athens (Omonia area), a very deprived neighborhood with many drug users around. Walking past them with my family, I did not feel safe at all. The room was basic and lacked even simple amenities like a kettle or tea/coffee, which I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The shower area appeared to have had some maintenance work but was not properly cleaned, and the soap dispenser was empty. Breakfast was very average. In the name of orange juice, they served concentrated squash, which was very disappointing. The only positive aspect was the staff – they were very welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will never book this hotel again.

The rooms are very nice, all the staff are lovely, and the free breakfast is also pretty good! The only downside to this hotel is the surrounding area which is a little rough looking and shady. However there is a police station nearby and I was never bothered during my stay here, even when I was out late at night.

Good points are the rooms and the service by the staff. The reason I only gave one star to the location is not the positioning of the hotel, as most of the tourist sites are within 15-minute walks. It's because of the streets around the hotel are teeming with drug users! Needles and crack pipes litter the pavements. It's such a shame
