Arethusa Hotel Athens

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at Arethusa Hotel Athens. We had a room on level 8 which was refurbished. The room was very functional and clean with a nice size balcony. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom whilst small was functional with a good size shower. We walked up the stairs to level 9 where the view over to the Acropolis and Parthenon were amazing. The breakfast whilst small was perfect for what we needed. The staff at reception and at breakfast were all lovely. We even had a late checkout for extra $’s which was very fair. Would highly recommend this place for the comfort and closeness to everything in Athens.

We are deeply disappointed!!! We’ve been loyal guests at Hotel Arethusa for 13 years. Since 2013, we’ve visited Greece every summer and always stayed here since we really loved it and felt like home for us. This year , from 15 to 20 July 2025 , the treatment we received was completely unacceptable, especially from the maid on the morning shift. She was rude, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. She shouted at my father on his last day, IS THIS ACCEPTABLE???? she acted like she was doing them a favor every time they asked for something basic, and sometimes didn’t even leave soap or essentials in the room. To make things worse, she was taking photos of my parents’ room daily, and eventually made them pay €80 for a tiny, washable stain on a bed cover. A stain that any hotel could easily clean — but instead of handling it professionally, management treated them with disrespect, like they were criminals. My parents paid, but felt humiliated and deeply offended. When my parents asked to speak with the manager, they were told “he’s on vacation” — and that was it. No one else stepped in, no one tried to fix the situation, and no one cared. After 13 years of loyalty, they were brushed off like they didn’t matter. I don’t know what happened to this hotel, but the warm, welcoming atmosphere is gone. One rude staff member and careless management can destroy a reputation and years of goodwill.

We had a great time at the Arethusa Hotel. We had a high floor room with a balcony and it was perfect for the two nights we spent there. The breakfast was great and the staff was excellent. Also, a great hotel location wise, as you can take a bus/train from practically anywhere to Syntagma Square and the hotel is walking distance, would highly recommend!

Simple clean rooms, great staff, breakfast is simple but all you really need and 100m from Syntagma Square so right in the middle of Athens and everything is a walk away. Great value for money.

This hotel is awesome. Very clean room bigger than I expected. Full buffet breakfast is excellent one of the best I have had in Europe. Short walk to Metro and all attractions.
