Katharos Villas

The villa was spotlessly clean, very spacious (2 floors; 2 bathrooms, one on each floor and both with shower; 2 large beds, one on each floor; and outside patio dining area as well as lounge chairs and umbrella next to the pool) and quite comfortable. My son loved the pool, and it was great to be only a few steps to Ammoundi Bay where we got a great view of the sunset. The host, Alex, could be seen around the property every day constantly working to keep everything clean and running smoothly. We saw him cleaning and maintaining the pools every day, tidying up the walkways, and always around to answer questions or provide assistance. The only drawback is that it's a 15+ minute walk into town which is mostly uphill. However, you can also go down to Ammoundi Bay and then climb up the steps into town, which is an alternate route that avoids most of the crowds (and offers a back route directly up to Castle of Oia, which has the best views of the town and the sunset and gets extremely crowded and hard to access before sunset). You can also arrange taxis to directly pick you up at the villa and drive you to anywhere on the island. This can be done through the hotel or just via WhatsApp with any drivers you meet at the airport or around the island. Food delivery is also easy. The hotel provides information on several restaurants (at least 3 that I remember) that deliver (they speak English when you call), and all of them are very affordable (25-40+ euro for 2 people, depending on what you order) and arrive within 25-45 minutes, depending on time of day. There is a full kitchen (several coffeemakers (pods and drip), full sets of cookware, dishware, utensils, etc.) and grocery/convenience markets within less than a 20 minute walk if you want to prepare your own meals. 4 huge bottles of water; a large plate of bananas, apples and oranges; and assortment of jams and honey are in the room upon arrival.

We loved this place, it was quiet and peaceful, away from the crowds and the noise. The view was beautiful aspecially when relaxing and cooling down by or in the pool. Place was clean and welcoming with food items waiting for us when we checked in. It was well apointed with a nice kitchen and fridge stocked with water, fruit, bread, and other items. Service was attentive and welcoming and we were all happy with our stay. Note the walk to town is a little steep at about 15 minutes, so you will get your exercise. There are free shuttles to Ammoudi. Taxi to Oia is pricy relative to the 3 minute drive that it is, we chose to walk and enjoy the open air and the exercise.

We had a very nice stay at Katharos Villas! Relaxing and a little more private than the ones in the center of Oia. Great sunset views, and we enjoyed the heated pool. Spacious accommodation and nice for families, I think it could be comfortable for 4 people and possible for 6. We had 2 adults and 1 baby. Very helpful staff who go out of their way to personalize your experience. Breakfast included but must cook your own. They provide drinks for you as well. Greeted by Francisco at the airport who is the part owner of the place. He was very friendly and accomodating to make us feel comfortable. The place itself was a hotel at the foot of oia legendary sunset hill which suits us perfectly as it was easier to go to other places. walking distance to nearby shops and the Ammoudi Bay. We walked easily to the hills and watch the famous sunset of Santorini. Since it was December there were not many tourists so it suits us perfectly. There was a kitchenette for us to cook and a nearby supermarket if we wanted to buy any seafood. Water pressure was good and warm water easily available. There was also a swimming pool in front of each unit. Highly recommended.

I can only echo the comments by other reviewers and say that this was the best service we have ever received on a trip away. We are reasonably picky when it comes to accommodation abroad, and have stayed in many lovely hotels but were absolutely blown away by our experience at Katharos Villas, and cannot wait to return. I had high hopes before arriving which were exceeded in every way. The villas themselves are spacious and cool, with all the amenities you could wish for, and Angela keeps everything spotless with daily cleaning and tidying. Francesco and Alessandro went above and beyond to make our trip special, even driving us themselves to watch the final of the Euros when we were struggling to find somewhere to see the match and collecting us at 2 in the morning when the game finished. They were so helpful with getting us in to the restaurant we had loved on our first night again for our final night, helped to accommodate us with checkout, and were so friendly, regularly checking in to see if there was anything they could do for us whilst giving us space to enjoy our relaxation time . Whilst not in the centre of Oia, the villas are fantastically situated to easily access the town centre, the picturesque Ammoudi Bay, and Katharos beach within 10 minutes walk - make sure to take the back footpath up to the town rather than the road if you are walking as it is much easier and quicker!
