Описание

Meet your food loving local guide in front of the Chania municipal market which is located in the city center. Your guide will be standing outside the main south entrance holding an ‘’Alma de Creta’’ sign.

Our first stop is a bougatsa place. Bougatsa is a delicious pastry that is made with phyllo dough and filled with a creamy custard. It's a popular breakfast pastry in Chania, and we're going to take you to one of the best bougatsa places in the city. You'll be able to watch the skilled pastry chefs at work as they make the bougatsa fresh right in front of your eyes.

Next, we'll take you to a place where you can try kaltsounia, a savory pastry that is similar to a mini-pie. Kaltsounia are filled with a variety of ingredients, such as cheese, herbs, and vegetables, and they're a popular snack food in Chania. We'll show you how to pick the best ones and even teach you a little bit about the local ingredients that are used to make them.

During the tastings, you will gain insight into Crete’s fascinating food culture, the evolution of the island’s cuisine, the healthy nature of locally produced ingredients and find out about all the secret eateries of the Old town of Chania.

While we navigate along the little alleys of the Old town we will visit a shop that sells local herbs and get informed on their medicinal effects as well as how they are being used in the local cuisine. You'll learn about the different flavors and health benefits of herbs such as oregano, thyme, and sage.

The last stop on the tour is for you to try the best souvlaki in town on a popular local eatery.

With your stomachs full, our mission will be accomplished – you will leave happily full and with a much better understanding of the world of Cretan street food.
