Your unique and private experience will begin by being picked up from the airport with our comfortable Mini-van /Sedan where you can safely store your luggage.
Leaving the busy Athens Airport behind us, we will make a short stop at a local dairy for brunch, Enjoy a crunchy piece of Chees pie and a rice puding. After receiving the necessary energy, we will cross by the beautiful countryside of Mesogaia, full of vines and fig trees and we will make a short stop in a secret spot surrounded by various cultivations and charming chapels.
You will have the time to stretch in nature and taste “Moustokouloura”, the traditional cookies of the region made with grape must. We will share the recipe and we will talk about all the other products that derive from the grapes such as “Moustalevria” a grape must pudding made with “Petimezi” a molasses syrup rich in various nutritional components.
After our short and tasty break, we will continue our Athens Layover Wine Escape by crossing the countryside until we arrive at our next stop where we will have the chance to gaze at the Frankish Tower, build by the family of De la Roche around the 13th century. It has three floors and its crenellation is almost intact. The tower was part of a network of similar towers which secured the timely warning and the defense in cases of pirate raids.
Leaving the Frankish Tower behind us, we will head towards a well known family-run winery of Mesogaia where you will have the chance to learn more about Greece’s winemaking history, explore the premises and taste five different wine varieties accompanied by regional specialties.
Your Athens Layover Wine Escape can be extended with a lunch at local tavern depending on the time left.
