Amaryllis Hotel

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in – and I have traveled to many countries and visited countless hotels. Of course, I had already seen from the pictures that the hotel was not nice, so I didn’t have high expectations. But it exceeded everything – absolutely everything. In reality, it was even worse than in the photos. I have never seen anything so disgusting in my life. The rooms smelled terribly, and the bathroom was so tiny that I could barely move. The toilet was directly in front of the sink, so I had to practically squeeze or “hug” it just to sit down. Additionally, the bathroom was so unhygienic and disgusting that I didn’t even want to shower there. I went to beach clubs instead, just to avoid using the hotel shower. The air conditioning constantly dripped – right onto my hair dryer, which immediately broke because of it. The room door barely opened; I had to push it hard to get inside. The staff were rude, disrespectful, and extremely unfriendly. This hotel is at the level of a very cheap flop – and even there I’ve seen better. Absolutely not recommended!

A hotel that allows its guests from 4. floor to start playing loud music on the speakers at 11 pm, allows them to shout and make abnormal noise and repeat it night after night, disturbing both the guests of this hotel and the guests of at least 3 other hotels in the area. Very unprofessional, disgusting and rude on the part of the hotel that tolerates this. The police should be called to them for disturbing public order and peace.

I would love to give them a higher score, but because of how dirty the room was, I can't. It was (and probably still is) toothpaste on the wall by the sink, when we checked in to the room. The staff are lovely, they cared for me when I got the stomach flu, and made sure I was given a special Greek meal at the restaurant, that they themselves use. It's close to the beach, but also close to the party noise. The air condition made this clacking noise, that turned on and off, every couple of minutes, all thru the night. Since I got sick, things got a bit more messed up. When I came back from the Dr. I found out that they hadn't changed the sheets, nor cleaned the toilet. Even tho I had put up the sign that I wanted the room made up. The sheets had gotten a stain, which is why I can say for certain, that it wasn't changed. And (warning, gross) I had p*ked on the toilet ring, that was still there. So I ended up cleaning it myself. One thing is that it's outdated and run down, that's OK, but that dirty, is just another level down. My partner saw what looked like the cleaning girl, stealing cash from the rooms. So I hope the owners read this, and shape up the cleaning staff, because they are ruining their reputation.

Room was very cosy and clean. I recommend buying breakfast cause it is tasty and not expensive. Localisation is very good it is close to old town and the sea. Stuff was very polite and helpful.

So there is a lot to say about this place. I stayed with my friend for over a week and we had a lot of fun. The staff is absolutely great and we made friends with many of them and they even offered us free shots. The food is decent and the restaurant/bar area was a nice place to sit and enjoy the football games playing at the time. The location is great as it is in the middle of the city, close to the most popular bar spots and close to the beach. Also decent breakfast, good for the price. We stayed on the roof and got to enjoy the beautiful sunset and view from it. Now for the negatives, which mostly come from the room itself. There was cleaning almost everyday, but I'm not sure there was actual cleaning because I often found bits of hair on the ground. I think it was done very badly or they just replaced the towels. There was also a dead cockroach in one of the bedrooms and in the other there was a line of ants that seemed to live by the toilet and behind one of the doors. The insect problem is the biggest problem and needs to be resolved immediately. Also the AC seemed to be brand new in one of the rooms but a relic in the other one. Nevertheless, this is a 2* hotel and we definitely enjoyed our stay and the friendly staff. If they would just fix up the hygienic problems they would have it all in the bag
