"The Place of Once - Heroes in the Garbage"

"The place of once - Heroes in the trash" – an exhibition of more than 150 toys and other discarded artefacts from the personal collection of a professor emeritus of Athens’ School of Fine Arts, covering a time span from 1821 to 1960 – will be presented at the Municipal Gallery of Chania from 11 March to 30 June 2023.

Lead soldiers, porcelain dolls, pre-war editions of Jules Verne's novels, old photographs, vinyl record and more make up a unique exhibition of artefacts gathered by Michael Manousakis, representing childhood from a different time, far from the screens and digital reality of today.

Michalis Manousakis has been collecting discarded objects from different corners of the world for the last 25 years, including a large portion of the exhibition that is being presented to the public for the first time.
