As part of the European ReInHerit project, the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens, the Graz Museum in Austria and the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Nicosia have collaborated to create three themed exhibitions titled ReThinking. The exhibitions explore social issues that have preoccupied humanity from antiquity to the present-day, including gender identities, social conflicts, and art and techniques.

Visitors to the Museum of Cycladic Art can enjoy the following:

  • ReThinking Identities: Gender, Diversity, Discrimination: 20 March - 8 May 2023
  • ReThinking Conflicts: 18 May - 15 June 2023
  • ReThinking Art & Techniques: 29 June - 27 July 2023

The project envisages the presentation of objects within the museum space when the original pieces cannot be showcased. For each exhibition, three objects have been selected from the collections and will be displayed in their home venues before being sent to the countries of the other participating museums, serving to weave together a distinctive narrative surrounding the broader theme of specific social issues.

The three museums have also developed three digital exhibitions which mirror the physical exhibitions and are enriched with interactive digital storytelling and painting tools and educational activities.

At the same time, a digital collection has been created which includes objects from other museums in Greece and abroad and focuses on the themes of identities, social conflicts and craftsmanship.
