The Archaeological Museum of Kavala presents the exhibition "The Nordics" which consists of two exhibitions: "Brave and intelligent people. Travelers from the Nordic countries tell their stories" and "Swedish representatives of the Red Cross in Greece during the Second World War".

Description of the two exhibitions:

The exhibition "Brave and intelligent people. Travelers from the Nordic countries tell their stories" focuses on the idea of the traveler in its broader sense. Norwegians, Swedes, Danes and Finns travelled to Greece in times of peace and war from the 18th to the 20th century and tell stories that reveal a lively interest and commitment on the part of the Nordic countries to Greece. Visitors will have the opportunity to view publications related to the journeys of travelers from the Nordic countries. These are rare testimonies and images covering the last three centuries, both during wartime and peacetime. The explanatory texts of the exhibition are in Greek. The exhibition was implemented by the Library of the Nordic Countries in Athens as well as the Institutes and Embassies of the Nordic Countries.

Exhibition 'Swedish Red Cross representatives in Greece during the Second World War'.

Food aid in Greece was the largest humanitarian operation during World War II. World public opinion, shocked by the terrible famine, forced the Allies in the winter of 1941-1942 to allow food supplies to be provided to the country. Sweden's neutral position during the war was decisive in the phase of negotiations, in the phase of organizing the food supply, as well as in setting up a neutral committee to oversee the operation. After a series of complicated and lengthy negotiations, an International Red Cross mission was set up, which included eight Swedes and seven Swiss, headed by a Swede. A total of 29 Swedes participated in this humanitarian mission. The explanatory texts of the exhibition are in Greek and the exhibition was implemented by the Library of the Nordic Countries in Athens as well as the Institutes and Embassies of the Nordic Countries. The Archaeological Museum of Kavala presents the exhibition "The Nordics" which consists of two exhibitions.
