The 9th Athens Half Marathon on March 22th 2020.
The Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) and the City of Athens have joined forces over the last years and are co-organizing in the most successful way a popular sport event held on the streets of the Athens city centre. Starting from 2012, when it was held for the first time, the Athens Half Marathon event is experiencing major success not only with regard to the level of organization and services offered but to massive participation in the event as well.
During last year's event, the City of Athens was brightened by the smiles of about 18,000 runners and spectators who flooded the city, cheering the participants and applauding the personal triumph of each one of them, proving that there is always a way to move forward and achieve more. Athens was flooded by thousands of people who seized the opportunity to enjoy the city’s beauty, running on the streets of a city free of vehicles. A unique celebration mood is characterizing the entire event, setting the pace in establishing the Athens Half Marathon as an annual key event for the city and its people.
The appeal of the Athens Half Marathon has traveled beyond the country’s boundaries. Runners from all around the world are already planning their participation in the 9th Athens Half Marathon to be held on 22 March 2020. This huge interest raises the expectations that each individual participant as well as the entire Greek running community have from the Organizers .
The Athens Half Marathon is acknowledged as a major national, cultural, tourist and sport event, addressed to all citizens not only of Athens but of the entire country offering different races for all; Half Marathon, 5km Road Race, 3km Road Race and a Race for Kids and People with Disabilities.
