SEGAS (Hellenic Athletics Federation) and its partners announce that, the 2020 Athens Marathon will be staged as planned on 07 & 08 November 2020.
The 2020 Athens Marathon event’s program includes the following Races:
Marathon Race – The Athens Marathon Race participants will be divided into two different smaller Marathon races (Marathon Race & Marathon Race B), with 5,000 participants each and one hour difference as to starting time. Allotment of runners in one of these two marathon races and the relevant starting block will be made by the LOC. It is noted that the Athens Marathon Race will be held on Sunday 08 November.
10km Road Race – On Saturday 07 November, the participants in the 10km Race will also be split into two different 10km races (A & B), with 5,000 participants each and one hour difference as to starting time.
5km Road Race ZERO WASTE FUTURE – The same pattern will be followed for the 5km Race to be held on Sunday 08 November, meaning that again there will be two different 5km races with 5,000 participants each and one hour difference as to starting time.
The Kids Run and the 1000m Special Olympics Run originally scheduled, will not take place this year.
In the framework of the already planned since the beginning of the year changes that will be applied in this year’s Athens Marathon event, two registration levels are now available for all races. By that way, the official t-shirt will be part of the registration kit for all runners, as it is the case in all other major international Marathon Races events.
The 2020 Athens Marathon Registration Period opens on Friday 03 July 2020. Registrations are available only through the official website of the event. It is evident that available entries will be fewer this year compared to the 2019 event. Furthermore, and in order for all participants to be fully and dully informed in advance, the Athens Marathon Organizing Committee have updated the event’s Cancellation Policy, which everyone is advised to read before proceed to his/her actual registration.
