Sani Resort Summer festival

Picture a mediaeval tower on a hill overlooking the sea, a sinking sun and a moon rising over a Mediterranean coastline, exotic sounds borne on the warm night air conjuring a playground for your imagination and charging the atmosphere with a rarified magic. This is the Sani Festival of music now in its 24th year, a must for the true connoisseur or anyone seeking an experience to transcend the humdrum, where artist and spectator meet on even terms in a spell-binding adventure.

This famous festival is one of the highlights of the luxurious Sani Resort in Halkidiki and has and always will be about pushing the envelope, taking musical exploration to new and often uncharted waters. This year is no exception with plenty of audacious flouting of the mainstream rulebook and musicians, especially vocalists, of the highest caliber gracing Sani Hill.

In this context, this year we are hosting for an exclusive appearance the one and only Joss Stone, the internationally recognized, despite her young age, British composer, singer of soul and actress on July 29th.

The fans of classical music will have the opportunity to see and experience live Daniel Hope, the world-renowned virtuoso of the violin, on August 13th, who will present a journey with the story of the violin and the elevation of the instrument in the baroque period, based on his award-winning record.

This year's 'Jazz on the Hill' section will focus on virtuoso pianists. The 24th Festival’s curtain raiser will feature a highly promising pianist, a true revelation from Germany: Michael Wollny, who will appear for one night only in Greece on July 8th.

Within the same music section, Sani Festival reconnects with the charismatic pianist Yaron Herman, who first appeared in Greece during Sani Festival 2009 as a rising star.

The tribute to jazz pianists will end on July 23rd with the spotlight falling on the Japanese multi-faceted musical personality of Hiromi, one of the most profound and creative figures of 21st-century music.

The section focusing on Greek folk (entechni) music, titled Greek Variations, will feature the one-of-a-kind Dionyssis Savvopoulos, accompanied by the great, undimmed voice of Greek popular song, Eleni Vitali, for a single concert on August 20th . A 'theatre' of songs, with the seal of our beloved songwriter, written as only he knows how, entertaining us through a historically important musical collaboration.

This musical rainbow featuring the colours of Greece could not be complete without Alkistis Protopsalti, one of the most beloved Greek performers.
