The production of the distillate is a true ritual and gives Ouzo of Plomari its ideal flavour. Ouzo of Plomari is a product of 100% double distillation, with each distillation lasting for 9 hours, since, like they say “the slower the process, the better the distillate”. Distillation is still carried out in small, handmade, copper boilers, which constitute the only traditional distillation method.
The traditional method of distillation in small, handmade, copper boilers, combined with the excellent ingredients offered by the land of Lesvos and the unique recipe created by Isidoros Arvanitis in 1894, which is faithfully employed to this day, give Ouzo of Plomari its distinct aroma and taste that make it stand out.
